Kamrul is a PhD student focusing on solving issues related to the installation and post-installation capacity of impact-driven monopiles in variably cemented carbonate sediments. His research, which supports the foundation of offshore wind turbines, involves both field testing of piles and comprehensive laboratory testing of the sediment.

Juan is investigating uncertainty in soil characterization, with the goal of developing statistical models that provide a framework for predicting geotechnical properties of unsampled sites. One of the main objectives of the research is to involve geotechnical properties derived from a geophysical investigation within the prediction process.

Vas’ research is offshore geotechnical in nature, with a primary focus on investigating pipe-soil interaction on pipeline free-span shoulders. His research also explores seismic geotechnical engineering, offshore wind turbine foundations and soil liquefaction.

An’s research adresses the behaviour of monopiles for offshore wind turbines. His focus is on quantifying behaviour at different loading rates, which involves integrating data from centrifuge modelling with element tests on natural offshore soil samples.

Farnoud’s PhD focuses on quantifying the operational shear strength of near-surface seabeds, accounting for effects associated with partial drainage, strain softening and hardening, and strain rates. The ultimate aim of his research is to improve methods to scale from the strength measured in an element test or in situ to that relevant for seabed foundations and infrastructure.

Junhao is focussing on addressing challenges in predicting the installation of drag anchors for offshore floating platforms. His work includes developing a Reliability Based Assessment framework to optimise anchor design and studying side loading effects on drag anchors to assess reliability under extreme conditions.
