Farnoud’s PhD focuses on quantifying the operational shear strength of near-surface seabeds, accounting for effects associated with partial drainage, strain softening and hardening, and strain rates. The ultimate aim of his research is to improve methods to scale from the strength measured in an element test or in situ to that relevant for seabed foundations and infrastructure.

Raihan’s research focuses on the installation of offshore monopile foundations in sand using vibratory driving. By combining centrifuge experiments and advanced numerical modelling, the project aims to improve understanding of soil-pile interactions during vibratory pile driving and develop reliable prediction methods for this installation technique.

Bernardo’s research focuses on the installation of plate anchors in intermediate soils for offshore foundation systems. His work delves into different installation methodologies and combines this with an understanding of key soil mechanisms to shed light on potential installation approaches.
